Piano Lessons
I offer piano lessons in person every week. The length of lessons depends on the age and needs of the student.
Younger beginners start with a 30 minute lesson that is bumped up to 45 minutes as soon as the student has mastered certain basic skills and is able to work with the teacher for a longer period of time.
Students who have taken one year or more of piano lessons are required to take a 45 minute lesson.
More advanced students and adults who have more experience are encouraged to take 60 minute lessons, especially if they are not able to commit to a weekly lesson.
Online zoom lessons are also offered, however only on a need basis or if a student is not able to travel to The PianoPath Music Studio.
Lessons are usually scheduled at the same day and time each week through the MyMusicStaff website which allows for easy cancellation or rescheduling to open spots during the week.
Lessons are structured around technique, musical concepts, repertoire, music theory and aural skills. The PianoPath Music Studio is a huge proponent of musical literacy and therefore students will become equipped with the knowledge they need to be able to pick up a piece of music and be able to learn it on their own.
Students are encouraged to check in with the teacher between lessons through video assignments of certain items that are being mastered over the course of the week, as well as sending in completed Theory assignments that are reviewed by the teacher before the next lesson. In this way, students always feel connected and supported by the teacher.

Music Theory
The study of music theory is important in a student’s musical education. Theory concepts are discussed very early on during piano lessons through the learning of scales and key-signatures, and basic relationships in rhythmic notation. Students continue to explore these concepts as they develop their piano skills through music theory workbooks, primarily those published by the ABRSM examining program, with the goal of taking an exam after concepts in a workbook are mastered.
Beginner Recorder Lessons (individual or group)
The recorder is a wonderful instrument for a student starting on their musical path. The PianoPath Music Studio offers individual or group lessons to students of any age who want to start learning to play a wind instrument that could be a foundation to continuing on to other wind instruments or eventually the piano.

ABRSM exams
Assessment on the progress being made is important outside of the PianoPath Music Studio. This is primarily done through the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (London) music examinations (ABRSM) in piano and music theory.
